Lesson 8: Remember What You Said
Lesson Eight: Remember What You Said
Apostle Tyronne McCreary | May 24, 2026
Text: Mark 5:21–43
INTRODUCTION
Opening Thought:
“Remember, with the same measure you meet, it will be measured back to you.”
Scripture: Mark 4:24 (Amplified)
“Pay attention to what you hear. By your own standard of measurement… it will be measured to you…”
Key Thought:
Stewarding what you hear matters.
I. JAIRUS COMES TO JESUS
Scripture: Mark 5:21–22
“A ruler of the synagogue came… and fell at His feet.”
Understanding Jairus’ Position
Greek Word: archisynagōgos
Meaning: leader/chief of the synagogue
Jairus was:
a respected religious official
connected to religious structure
influential within the Jewish community
Understanding Jairus’ Posture
Key Thought:
His posture became a confession.
In Hebrew culture, falling at someone’s feet represented:
humility
surrender
desperation
honor
reverence
submission to authority
The Feet of Jesus as a Kingdom Posture
Key Thought: Falling at Jesus’ feet symbolizes:
surrender
trust
dependence
recognition of His Lordship
Kingdom Principle:
Humility precedes deeper revelation.
Scripture: James 4:10
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord…”
II. REMEMBER WHAT YOU SAID
Scripture: Mark 5:23
“My little daughter lies at the point of death… she will live.”
Key Thought:
Walking with Jesus will require you to remember what you said about Him.
When Faith Is Stretched
Why does delay often show up after prayer?
Why do reports worsen after confession?
Why do storms arise after revelation?
The Purpose of Delay
Key Thought:
There are dimensions of Christ you will never know unless your faith is stretched beyond what you can control.
Jairus’ Faith Had Conditions
Jairus believed Jesus could heal…
if He arrived in time
if He used the expected method
if visible possibility remained
When God Moves Beyond Expectation
Key Thought:
Sometimes Jesus allows situations to move beyond our control so our confidence can become rooted in who He is rather than in how we expected Him to work.
From Healer to Resurrection
Jairus came believing for healing.
Jesus was preparing to reveal Himself as resurrection.
Mature Kingdom Faith
Kingdom faith survives when: timing fails, methods change, visible possibilities collapse, and we still believe Christ is Lord.
III. THE CLASSROOM OF DELAY
Scripture: Mark 5:25–34
While Jairus waits, Jesus stops to minister to a woman suffering for twelve years.
Key Thought:
What Jairus saw as interruption was actually a classroom.
Why God Teaches in Desperate Moments
Key Thought:
God often establishes classrooms in inconvenient and desperate moments because pressure reveals what ordinary moments conceal.
Pressure reveals:
what we truly believe
where trust is anchored
whether faith depends on comfort or Christ
The Woman With the Issue of Blood (The Contrast of Faith)
Jairus said: “Come lay Your hands on her.”
The woman said: “If I may touch but His clothes…”
Key Insight:
Jairus believed Jesus must touch.
The woman believed even contact with what clothed Him was enough.
The Significance of the Hem of His Garment
Scripture: Numbers 15:38–39
The “hem” refers to the tassels/fringes (tzitzit) worn according to covenant law.
The tassels represented:
covenant identity
obedience
remembrance
belonging to God
The Significance of Twelve
The woman suffered for twelve years.
Twelve represents: divine government, covenant order, authority, and covenant community.
She Was Reaching for Covenant Mercy
Scripture: Malachi 4:2
“Healing in His wings…”
Word Insight:
The Hebrew word for “wings” can also refer to corners, edges, and extremities of a garment.
Key Thought:
Her touch was rooted in covenant faith in who she believed Jesus to be.
Faith Always Gets His Attention
Scripture: Mark 5:29–34
“Daughter, your faith has made you well.”
Key Thought:
She was not demanding public attention.
She simply believed if she could reach Him, it would be enough.
IV. THE INTERRUPTION WAS DEVELOPING JAIRUS
Key Thought:
Jesus was not wasting time—He was developing trust.
The delay exposed whether Jairus’ faith was in:
a method
a timeline
Jesus Himself
The Bad Report
Scripture: Mark 5:35
“Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”
Key Thought:
Everything Jairus believed about the process collapsed.
The urgency, timeline, and visible possibility were gone.
Only Believe
Scripture: Mark 5:36
“Do not fear, only believe.”
Key Thought:
Fear and faith cannot lead at the same time.
Remember What You Said About Him
Meaning:
Don’t let fear cancel revelation
Don’t abandon your confession because circumstances changed
Hold onto what faith declared before fear arrived
V. THE ATMOSPHERE OF FAITH
Scripture: Mark 5:37–40
Jesus permitted only Peter, James, and John to continue.
Key Thought:
Jesus became selective about the atmosphere.
Why?
Because unbelief, fear, and noise can contaminate environments where faith is being developed.
Key Insight:
Some people are assigned to your crowd but not your inner room.
Jesus Sees Differently
Scripture: Mark 5:39
“The child is not dead, but sleeping.”
Key Thought:
Everybody else saw finality.
Jesus saw temporary interruption.
VI. UNBELIEF MOCKS WHAT FAITH EXPECTS
Scripture: Mark 5:40
“And they ridiculed Him…”
Key Thought:
Unbelief often laughs at what faith expects.
One Word Changed Everything
Scripture: Mark 5:41
“Little girl, I say to you, arise.”
Key Thought:
One word from Jesus reversed what everyone else called final.
Jairus Asked for Healing
Key Insight:
Jesus revealed resurrection.
Key Thought:
Sometimes we ask God to preserve something while He intends to reveal a greater dimension of His glory.
WHAT WE LEARN FROM JAIRUS
Key Truths
Jesus is not limited by delay
Jesus is not intimidated by death
Jesus is not bound to human timing
Jesus is faithful to what faith declared before fear arrived
KEY SCRIPTURES TO MEDITATE AND MEMORIZE
Mark 4:24
Mark 5:21–43
James 4:10
Numbers 15:38–39
Malachi 4:2
FINAL THOUGHT
The delay did not deny the miracle.
The interruption did not cancel the promise.
And the bad report did not change who Jesus is.
REMEMBER WHAT YOU SAID!
