“So Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.’”
I. INTRODUCTION: THE WORLD JESUS IS SENDING US INTO
We live in a cold, dark, lost world, estranged from its Creator, trying to define its own existence.
This world is driven by self-centeredness, moral confusion, and spiritual death, shaped by an adversary who seeks destruction.
1 John 3:8 – “The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.”
Jesus' Mission:
To deliver from sin’s penalty
To proclaim the arrival of the Kingdom
To break Satan’s grip on humanity
Acts 10:38 – "How God anointed Jesus...with the Holy Spirit and power...healing all oppressed of the devil."
II. JESUS TRANSFERS THE MISSION TO US
John 20:21
“As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
Greek (apostellō): To be sent on a defined mission by a superior.
John 17:18 – “Just as You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.”
John 17:20-23 (MSG): Jesus prays for His followers to carry His same heart and mind into the world.
III. DEFINING OUR MISSION
Mission (Latin: missio)
To be sent with purpose and authority on a defined assignment.
Our Mission Mirrors Christ’s Mission:
Reveal the truth
Redeem the lost
Reconcile the world to God
Luke 4:43 – “I must preach the good news...for I was sent for this purpose.”
2 Corinthians 5:20 – “We are ambassadors for Christ...”
IV. THE MANTLE & AUTHORITY OF THE MISSION
Becoming a follower of Christ is not just about escaping hell—it’s about embracing His mantle.
We are authorized emissaries—carrying heaven’s assignment.
Key Words:
Shalach (Hebrew): To be dispatched with divine authority
Emissary: A diplomatic representative with official status
Ambassador / Diplomat / Representative: Chosen to act and speak on behalf of another
Romans 10:15 – “How shall they preach unless they are sent?”
V. MISSION CHARACTERISTICS
1. Purposeful Sending
You are not random—you are specifically sent to fulfill Christ’s purpose.
2. Representation with Authority
You’re not going alone. You carry Jesus’ name, authority, and mission.
3. Assignment-Driven
Each believer has a role in the mission:
Proclaim, teach, heal, reconcile, serve, build, and reveal Jesus.
Ephesians 5:14-17 (AMP & NLT) – Live with purpose. Understand what the Lord wants you to do.
4. Empowered Execution
Acts 1:8 – “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you...”
Greek: lambanō – To take hold of what is offered with initiative
Greek: dýnamis – Ability to perform through God’s ability
VI. YOU HAVE BEEN VESTED & CERTIFIED
You’ve been:
Accredited – Given official authorization
Certified – Proven to be genuine
Endorsed – Approved and backed
Invested – Clothed with power and authority
Warranted – Guaranteed and appointed
Sworn In – Legally affirmed by Heaven
Luke 12:32 – “It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.”
Mark 16:20 – “The Lord worked with them, confirming the word...”
VII. WE LIVE IN A DISPENSATION OF DIVINE ASSIGNMENT
Ephesians 3:2 / 1 Corinthians 9:17 – “Stewardship (oikonomia) of the gospel is entrusted to me.”
This is our appointed time to carry out God’s divine order in the world.
Stewardship = Faithful management of what has been entrusted.
VIII. FILLED TO THE FULL: THE FOUNDATION OF ACTS
Acts 2:1–4 – They were all filled with the Holy Spirit...
Greek: plḗthō – Filled to the limit, maximum capacity
To be furnished, imbued, supplied, influenced
Filled = Inspired and permeated to take action
1 Samuel 10:6 – “The Spirit of the Lord will come upon you...and you will be changed into another man.”
Acts 4:8 – “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said...”
IX. FILLED, FURNISHED, AND INFLUENCED
Filled: Supplied to capacity
Furnished: Equipped with what is needed
Influenced: Transformed in character and behavior
This equals undeniable evidence of your calling.
Acts 3 / Acts 4 / Acts 5 – Evidence everywhere of the Spirit working through believers.
X. FINAL DECLARATION & CHARGE
🗣️ Declare This Over Your Life:
“I am not random—I am sent. I carry the mantle of Christ. I’ve been certified, endorsed, and empowered. I am filled, furnished, and influenced by the Spirit of God. I am a witness with evidence. I am an emissary with full authority. I don’t just have the message—I carry the mission!”
