“But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt… and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”

Think of your thoughts like a steering wheel—wherever your mind goes, your life follows.

• When you feel pulled back into old habits, stop and declare God’s promises.
• Replace negative thoughts with scripture you’ve memorized.
• Surround yourself with believers who will remind you of your true identity.

The more you practice renewing your mind, the less room there is for wandering.

Peter asked Jesus a bold question: “We’ve left everything and followed You—what shall we have?” (Matthew 19:27).

Jesus’ answer wasn’t just about eternity. He promised eternal life and community in this life (Mark 10:29–30).

This message explores why Jesus pointed us to community, why the enemy fears it, and how unity shapes the power of the Church today.

Peter wanted to know the reward. Jesus promised:

• Eternal life
• A new family in this life
• Provision and blessing

Community was His answer. Why? Because the enemy fears a united church more than anything.

Community isn’t just hanging out—it’s living with purpose together.

In the Bible, it’s deeper:

• Edah – an assembly under God
• Qahal – a called-out gathering (Ekklesia)
• ʿAm – God’s covenant people

Jesus was calling us to shift loyalties:

• From natural ties → to spiritual family
• From earthly inheritance → to kingdom inheritance

God didn’t design the kingdom for lone rangers. He built it on family and covenant.

When we know who we are:

• Sons and daughters with authority
• A royal priesthood, a holy nation
• Redeemed and crowned with glory

Then church becomes a place of:

• Strength – holding each other up
• Identity – knowing who we are together
• Provision – meeting real needs
• Witness – showing Christ to the world

Communion is more than a personal moment. It’s a family declaration.

It says:

• We belong to Christ and to each other
• Division has no place at the Lord’s table
• We are one body, one bread

Acts shows us the power of unity:

• Shared what they had
• Ate and prayed together
• Saw miracles, grace, and growth

Unity always brought power and provision.

Jesus called His Church the ekklesia—a governing assembly.

That means we carry authority to:

• Bind and loose (Matthew 16:19)
• Agree together in prayer (Matthew 18:18–20)
• Enact God’s will on earth

No wonder the enemy fights unity with distraction, division, and deception.

Psalm 133 paints it beautifully:

• Unity is like oil flowing down—anointing and power
• Unity is like fresh dew—life and refreshment
• Unity is where God commands His blessing

Jesus said the world will know us by our love (John 13:35).

When we are one:

• People see Christ in us
• We prove Jesus was sent
• We give evidence to the world that He is real

Ephesians 4 reminds us to:

• Walk worthy of our calling
• Stay humble, patient, and gentle
• Guard unity in the Spirit

There is one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all.

God’s goal is maturity.
The Church is meant to grow together until we look like Christ as one complete body.
This is the assignment of the five-fold ministry—to bring us into maturity and unity in Him.

Peter asked, “What shall we have?”
Jesus answered: a new family, a covenant community, and eternal life.
The Church united is unstoppable. The question is—are you living in covenant with Christ and His people?

Jeremiah 1:5 makes it clear—God knew us before birth and set us apart for His purpose. We may have our own plans, but Proverbs 19:21 reminds us that only God’s purpose stands. When we try to build apart from Him, we waste effort. “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it” (Psalm 127:1). The “house” is more than a building—it represents family, legacy, and future.

Psalm 127:3–5 calls children a heritage and a reward. They are arrows—full of potential, but needing shaping, sharpening, and direction. Parents are God’s chosen hands to mold them with wisdom, discipline, and instruction. When neglected, arrows miss their target and can cause harm, but when guided, they bring honor and strength to the family.

Culture often tries to redefine identity and distract the next generation, but God’s Word calls parents to raise children in the fear and knowledge of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). The goal is to release them as arrows—confident, equipped, and aimed toward God’s purpose. When children are raised in God’s order, they become leaders who stand at the gates of influence and defend the faith with boldness.
